It is apparent that as of today, July 15, OZombie has been cancelled. The Kickstarter no longer exists and the money made from it has been returned. This is due to the fact the Kickstarter had a few weeks to go and was going to slowly for any real progress. It was bound to fail. American McGee could only create one Kickstarter, and the goal for Alice: Otherlands was far less in terms of money. American McGee needs $100,000 for Otherlands.

But what is Otherlands? What is happening? Alice: Otherlands is a one time opportunity. American has been offered the rights, and if he does not take them they will be sold forwards. OZombie has no publisher copyright and can be created at any point in time that American McGee and Spicy Horse wish. They can only hold one Kickstarter at a time, and OZombie was making minimum progress, therefore, the entire Kickstarter was cancelled and people were refunded.

However, a new Kickstarter will take the place of OZombie. Alice: Otherlands will be a two week Kickstarter said to roughly be up by the end of this week for an estimate of $100,000 (not including the money needed to make the tier rewards, the money used to produce the animations itself and the 5% of money Kickstarter takes off as a fee). For $100,000, American McGee can create a series of animated shorts surrounding the series, however, if American McGee can get a whopping $500,000, he has the rights to create a feature-length Alice film.

Fans have been given a sneak-peak preview of the Otherlands Kickstarter video, featuring content from Alice: Madness Returns. See it on Youtube below:
